parents of or le-mishpachot visit venice
On Monday, May 27th, the Jewish Community of Venice hosted a large group of over sixty members of the Israeli association Or le-Mishpachot. After a boat tour to the most interesting sites of interest in the historic center of Venice, the itinerary ended in the Ghetto with a visit to the Great Sephardic Synagogue.
The participants, united in mourning for loved ones who died in the course of military operations in Israel, met with the chief rabbi of the Community, rav Alberto Sermoneta, who expressed the sincere closeness of the local Community and all its components, all the more so in this delicate and distressing phase.
After the tefillà of Minchà and the reading of the Torah, rav Tamir Granot, director of the Orot Shaul yeshiva of Kiryat Shalom (Tel Aviv), shared with those present his own testimony and that of his talmidim, who have been reservists for several months. In doing so, he did not fail to remember his fallen family members, offering passages and thoughts to strengthen all those, who have known firsthand the tragic nature of bereavement.
In the evening the group had dinner at the kosher restaurant Baghetto.
